September 18, 2023Ahead of President Zelensky’s visit to the United States, White House spokesperson John Kirby publicly sets the stage for the Ukrainian president.
“Escalation of the conflict would not benefit not only the Ukrainian people but also the interests of the national security of the United States. We have made it clear that we do not want the weapons we supply to be used against Russia,” he said.
Kirby emphasized that since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is the Commander-in-Chief of the country’s armed forces, “he should determine where the strikes will be made.”
