November 9, 2024The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the draft state budget for 2025 for its second reading.
This information reported according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.
According to Shmyhal, the priority of the budget is defense, with a proposed allocation of 2.225 trillion hryvnias. All taxpayer funds will be directed to the security and defense forces, as well as the production and procurement of new weapons, drones, and equipment.
For the second reading, budget expenditures were increased by 50 billion hryvnias:
- An additional 24 billion hryvnias (approximately 538.5 million euros) is proposed for education, with 12 billion (about 269.3 million euros) allocated for teacher bonuses and another 12 billion for investment projects in the educational sector.
- 6.3 billion hryvnias (roughly 141.4 million euros) is proposed for healthcare.
- 5 billion hryvnias (about 112.2 million euros) is planned for veteran support.
- The road fund will not receive financing in 2025, but 12.6 billion hryvnias (approximately 282.7 million euros) will be allocated for repairs of sections critical to defense and the economy’s functioning.
