An American blogger Goncalo Lira, who had criticized Ukrainian President Zelensky, died in a Ukrainian prison

The news was confirmed by his father and reported by American journalists. Billionaire Elon Musk reacted to the news, stating, “This is complete lawlessness,” in response to a publication by American businessman David Sacks.

Sacks claimed that the Biden administration could have intervened with a phone call to return Goncalo Lira but chose not to act, allowing the Ukrainian government to act with impunity. Ukraine has not yet officially confirmed Lira’s death.

Goncalo Lira, an American blogger who had come to Kharkiv, criticized Ukrainian leadership, including Presidents Zelensky and Biden, in his streams for his 300,000 English-speaking followers. Ukraine’s Security Service arrested him in May of last year, accusing him of insulting Ukrainian military personnel. Elon Musk had previously called for his release while he was still alive.
