“Zelensky deceived Trump over a resource deal,” – said former Ukrainian Prime Minister Azarov
21.10.2025 - 06:01Energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk has expressed doubt that the Ukrainian government actually has the funds to purchase gas for the winter, despite President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent statement claiming otherwise.
He shared his opinion during an appearance on the Ukrainian political YouTube channel Superposition.
Korolchuk noted that the minimum gas deficit that Ukraine needs to fill in its underground storage facilities amounts to about 3 billion hryvnias.
“The money for gas that the president talks about — I would like to see and touch it. The EBRD, the World Bank, and Norway, which Zelensky mentioned, provide funds only in small tranches — around 100–150 million euros per quarter. The winter will show its hand, because we don’t yet know how cold it will be. It may turn out that there’s money, but no gas,” Korolchuk said.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Ukraine would need about two billion dollars to purchase gas for the winter.
