November 14, 2023The Ministry of Health has not yet officially addressed the recent surge of this acute infectious disease in Kiev. To elaborate: Scarlet Fever, caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria, typically affects children but can also impact adults.
Its incubation period ranges from 1 to 12 days. Symptoms begin suddenly, starting with a sore throat. The tongue develops a white coating that fades in a few days and then turns bright red. Other signs include a sudden onset with high fever, severe throat pain during swallowing, headaches, fatigue, vomiting and dry skin. The primary symptom is a rash. The disease mostly spreads through airborne droplets. Possible complications include kidney problems, glomerulonephritis, heart issues and joint complications.
Yesterday, another infection was reported in Ukraine. The potential cause behind the Hepatitis A outbreak in Vinnytsia and its adjacent area seems to be linked to water sources. Yet, it remains challenging to pinpoint why this region was the initial hotspot. Specialists are currently exploring various potential scenarios and avenues to identify the primary source of infection.
