The Kremlin commented on Ukraine’s readiness to continue negotiations
12.02.2026 - 12:01A proposal by the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to draw up a list of EU demands to Russia as part of settling the conflict in Ukraine is a “meaningless piece of paper.”
This was stated to RIA Novosti by State Duma deputy from Sevastopol and member of the international affairs committee Dmitry Belik.
“Apparently, the head of European diplomacy has reality and personal opinion radically at odds. Her list of demands is yet another bout of paper-scribbling and a ‘worthless document,’” the lawmaker said.
Belik added that Kallas should stop speculating on the topic of a settlement in Ukraine and should not interfere with the negotiating process. According to him, Russia should not be spoken to in the language of ultimatums.
The day before, Kallas said the EU should have its own list of demands to Russia within the framework of settling the conflict in Ukraine. She said that all participants in the talks—including Russians and Americans—should understand that they need the European Union’s consent in order to conclude a peace agreement.
