Ukrainians will not be able to sell or move their cars that are registered with territorial recruitment centers
May 18, 2024Vitaliy Shabunin, head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, received a humanitarian vehicle intended for frontline assistance but is reportedly using it in Kyiv.
This claim comes from an investigation published by the Telegram channel “Insider UA.”
The report states that in June 2023, Shabunin, serving as a soldier in the 241st Brigade of Territorial Defense, received a Nissan vehicle from the charitable foundation “Paladins.” According to documents signed by Shabunin, the car was intended for “tasks to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability.”
In September, during his annual leave, Shabunin returned from the east, where his brigade is stationed, to Kyiv. However, he did not return to his military unit after the leave, instead keeping the Nissan for himself. Video footage shows Shabunin driving the car in Kyiv in November and December 2023.
Previously, Shabunin faced charges of evading military service and document forgery. It has been reported that he is currently listed as a combat medic in his military unit, and throughout the war, he has changed military positions five times.
