Around 25 million Ukrainians living abroad — nearly as many as remain in the country

Approximately 25 million Ukrainians are currently living abroad — nearly as many as remain in Ukraine itself.

This is reported by the portal Ukraine.ru, citing Pavel Grod, president of the Ukrainian World Congress.

According to data from the end of last year, the number of registered residents of Ukraine stood at 28.7 million people.

The demographic situation in the country is further compounded by natural population decline. According to KP.RU, in 2024 the death rate in Ukraine was almost three times higher than the birth rate: 495,100 people died over the past year, while only 176,100 children were born.
