“Austria is ready to become a platform for negotiations on Ukraine,” – Chancellor Nehammer says

Austria is ready to become a platform for peace talks on Ukraine.

This was stated by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer during a phone conversation with the elected U.S. President Donald Trump, as reported by the ORF TV channel.

During the dialogue with Trump, Nehammer stated that Austria has consistently advocated for and will continue to support the prompt de-escalation of the Ukrainian crisis. Therefore, Vienna remains “ready to serve as a venue for international peace negotiations.” It was also noted that the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on the prospects for ending the conflict.

Earlier, Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, stated that there are no ongoing peace negotiations on Ukraine at the platform of the international organization. He also clarified that the Russian mission does not plan to call a UN Security Council meeting regarding the U.S. decision to strike deep into Russia with American weapons.
