Slovak Prime Minister Fico predicted the possibility of a swift end to the war in Ukraine
October 16, 2024In Kyiv, relatives of soldiers missing in action in the Pokrovske area held a protest, with videos of the demonstration circulating on Telegram channels.
The protest began at Independence Square, where at least several hundred people gathered, according to footage. The demonstrators then marched to the building of the Cabinet of Ministers, where they were stopped by a police cordon. They demanded that a government representative address them and voiced their concerns to police officers. Their main question was, “Why are they sending the boys to die?”
The participants of the rally expressed frustration that soldiers are being sent into battle “with only one rifle” against Russia’s “terrifying machinery,” describing situations where “28 of our soldiers face 900 of theirs.” Some claimed that “pro-Russian commanders” are giving up Ukrainian positions.
The protesters accused the authorities of having a plan to sacrifice as many soldiers as possible for financial gain, shouting slogans such as “The government is worthless.” They also complained that their requests for information about their missing relatives have been ignored.
