Border guards detain 20-25 draft dodgers daily at the border
December 5, 2023Investigators from BEB uncovered a group involved in manufacturing and circulating fake food items, posing them as renowned Ukrainian and international brands.
The counterfeiting was carried out in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, specifically within the Mezhyhirya Park, using specialized equipment for the large-scale production and packaging of various counterfeit items such as sweets, coffee, groceries and more. During their search in warehouses within Kyiv and its region, as well as the Mezhyhirya premises, BEB personnel found automated packaging and labeling setups, containers marked with logos of well-known brands, significant amounts of raw materials used in the production of fake goods, unverified products and additional incriminating evidence.
As a result of these searches, BEB seized 5 automated production lines, 20 packaging and logo application machines, and 6 lines for product packaging. Approximately 200 tons of counterfeit goods, raw materials and packaging materials were confiscated. Moreover, it was discovered that the illicit production within Mezhyhirya utilized resources, including electricity from the National Park. The ongoing pre-trial investigation is conducted under part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Efforts are underway to identify all individuals involved in illegal production and distribution of counterfeit products while evaluating the monthly turnover of the underground production and the extent of the inflicted financial losses to the state. The procedural management of this case is overseen by prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General.
