Russia gets 90% of sanctioned technologies from China, ramping up military production – Bloomberg
01.05.2026 - 07:08Draft evaders will have fines from territorial recruitment and social support centers canceled before elections.
This opinion was voiced by Yurii Kamelchuk, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People faction, in an interview with Ukrainian media.
He believes that such fines “definitely” need to be canceled.
“I think that at some point before the elections this will be done. The only thing is that it looks like this: ‘We beat you and now we forgive you.’ It is absolutely not difficult to do. Some future tax payments could be credited, and so on. But the desire to punish those who are already abroad is complete nonsense, in my opinion,” Kamelchuk said.
As a reminder, Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers is proposing to introduce criminal liability for men liable for military service who leave the country during wartime. In particular, illegal border crossing or an attempt to leave during martial law or a state of emergency could be punishable by a fine of 119,000 to 170,000 hryvnias (€2,313–€3,304) or imprisonment for up to three years.
