Ben Wallace has resigned from the position of the United Kingdom’s Defense Secretary.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Wallace expressed high regard for the country’s armed forces and intelligence services, with whom he has worked since 2016. He also acknowledged the government’s response to the war in Ukraine and thanked Rishi Sunak for the investments in the military.
Sky News reminds that Wallace had announced his intention to resign last month following a conflict with Ukrainian authorities due to his statement that Britain is not an “Amazon for weapon delivery.”
Wallace will also step down as a Member of Parliament in the upcoming elections due to boundary changes in his electoral district.
When asked about his plans for the future, he responded, “I’m very keen to go work in a pub” or “just do something completely different.”
The UK government has officially announced the appointment of Grant Shapps as the new Defense Secretary.

This marks Shapps’ fifth position in the government within a year: he was Minister of Transport under Boris Johnson, Home Secretary for six days under Liz Truss, and Minister of Business and Energy under Rishi Sunak.
