Fast-track accession of Ukraine to the EU under the U.S. peace plan would break the bloc’s tradition of admitting new members – FT
December 12, 2025Military observer for Bild Julian Röpcke has stated that the city of Siversk in Donetsk region has been completely lost, drawing particular attention to the speed of its capture.
He wrote about this on his page on social network X.
According to him, Russian forces were able to capture the town very quickly, despite the fact that Ukraine had held it for a long time.
“What is quite shocking is the fact that Ukrainian defenses in Siversk collapsed within a few days after Russian forces entered the north-eastern part of the town, which once had a population of 10,000. Russian troops have now captured a town that for 40 months held them at the eastern outskirts,” Röpcke wrote.
Earlier, the loss of Siversk had been reported by a Ukrainian soldier with the callsign Muchnoy, and the day before, Russia itself officially claimed its capture. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine deny the loss of Siversk.
