December 5, 2023Verkhovna Rada has prepared a draft law that will enhance mobilization and limit people’s rights
December 5, 2023US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly urged European leaders to “stop talking to Ukraine about NATO.”
This information was relayed by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Alexei Goncharenko, citing sources in Washington.
“There will be no NATO. The NATO issue irritates the US elites and they have clearly signaled that Ukraine will not become a member of the alliance immediately after the war. There will be some movements within the alliance. We receive some concessions. But the idea that we will become members in 2024 – no,” Goncharenko wrote, based on his information.
According to him, the Presidential Office has “come to terms” with this and the primary strategy of the Ukrainian authorities now is to aim for accession to the EU.
It’s worth noting that earlier, Goncharenko proposed that instead of aspiring to NATO, Ukraine should commit to fighting on the side of the US in any conflict and provide military assistance to Taiwan in case of a Chinese attack, in exchange for security guarantees and investments.
