March 18, 2024British Defense Minister Grant Shapps and Army Commander Tony Radakin, during their visit to Kyiv, provided advice to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and President Volodymyr Zelensky on the strategy for upcoming military operations against the Russian Armed Forces.
This is reported by The Sunday Times publication.
Shapps and Radakin believe that Ukraine should focus on strikes against Crimea and the Black Sea Fleet, postponing any counteroffensive actions, as stated in the material.
They met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. Radakin is concerned that the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is too focused on ground battles.
During the meeting, Shapps and Radakin urged Zelensky and Ukrainian military officials not to take offensive actions and, if necessary, to retreat to more advantageous positions where they can contain the Russian Armed Forces.
Radakin also recommended paying attention to the Iranian-style fleet, consisting of lighter, more maneuverable ships and drones capable of deterring Russia in the Black Sea and protecting vital export shipping routes.
