“The next talks will take place in Abu Dhabi in March,” Zelensky said
27.02.2026 - 07:31Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, avoided answering a question about whether he might take part in presidential elections.
Journalists from the Arab media outlet Al-Modon published an interview with the former intelligence chief.
Budanov was asked whether presidential elections in Ukraine could be held if a 60-day ceasefire were achieved, and whether he would run for president in that case.
“My task now is to establish an effective negotiation process. Talking about elections in the current circumstances is meaningless,” the head of the President’s Office replied.

Earlier, media reports discussed Zelensky’s plans for another term and Budanov’s role in the context of possible elections. A Financial Times article claiming Zelensky was allegedly preparing to officially announce presidential elections and a referendum sparked a heated debate in Ukraine.
