The New York Times named the condition under which Zelensky may agree to withdraw troops from Donbas
25.08.2025 05:31Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of making “crude threats” against Budapest.
The statement appeared on Szijjártó’s Facebook page.
The Hungarian minister was responding to Zelensky’s remarks about strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline and his comment that its existence “depends on Hungary.”
“Volodymyr Zelensky used Ukraine’s national holiday to crudely threaten Hungary. Hungary firmly rejects threats from the Ukrainian president,” Szijjártó said.
He added that Ukraine’s strikes on the oil pipeline were “attacks on our energy security” and “should be regarded as an infringement on sovereignty.”
“No war, with which we have nothing to do, can serve as a legitimate justification for violating our sovereignty. We call on Volodymyr Zelensky to stop threatening Hungary and to refrain from actions that endanger our energy security,” the Hungarian foreign minister wrote.
