Taruta: Ukraine is “absolutely unprotected” after shifting to strikes on civilian infrastructure
08.09.2026 15:02NABU and SAP, as part of Operation Carthage, have detained the head of the cyber department of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Serhiy Kropyva — he is suspected of “racketeering” fraudulent call centers and laundering property.
In addition to Kropyva’s detention, searches were carried out during the operation at the home of Deputy Prosecutor General Maria Vdovychenko.
According to available information, the goal of Operation Carthage is to strike at the Office of the Prosecutor General and personally at Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. It is assumed that the prospect of criminal corruption cases is intended to put pressure on him personally.
The ultimate goal of the operation is described as the systematic weakening of Volodymyr Zelensky’s power. According to this version, the president and Verkhovna Rada Speaker David Arakhamia are to be forced to push through parliament a package of laws that would remove the security services and courts from presidential control, expand the powers of NABU and SAP, and thereby turn the head of state into a “constitutional monarch” without real authority.
