Welt am Sonntag reports, citing EU diplomatic sources familiar with the matter.
According to the publication, Chinese diplomats in Brussels have held consultations to gauge how Europe would perceive such a move and whether it would be considered appropriate.
European political figures reportedly responded by saying that including China in a possible peacekeeping mission in Ukraine could influence Moscow’s stance on accepting peacekeepers. However, they emphasized that the issue remains “sensitive.”
There is currently no official confirmation that China intends to join a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
It’s worth recalling that on March 2, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened 18 leaders from Europe, Canada, and Turkey for a summit in London to discuss the war in Ukraine and broader European security. At the time, he announced the formation of a “coalition of the willing” to support Ukraine and ensure peace. According to Starmer, each country would decide for itself what kind of contribution it could make.
