December 11, 2023New videos have surfaced online showing massive queues at the “Lybidska” metro station in Kyiv on the first Monday after the closure of six stations on the blue line.
“People are struggling to get to work. This is complete chaos,” complain Kyiv residents.
Recall that on December 8th, due to flooding in the tunnel, metro operations were suspended at six stations on the “blue” line, from “Demiivska” to “Teremky.” City authorities stated that the non-operational metro stations would continue to serve as shelters during emergencies.
According to preliminary estimates, repairs are expected to take six months. The Prosecutor’s Office has already initiated a pre-trial investigation into the case of official negligence leading to severe consequences.
The police have announced changes in traffic organization in the capital, intending to increase the public transport capacity.
Following the closure of the six stations, huge queues have formed at bus stops in Kyiv, with people waiting for public transportation. Moreover, due to the accumulation of minibuses and buses at stops, the movement of cars has become more difficult, causing traffic jams on the roads.
