March 7, 2024Outspoken singer Kristina Solovey stated that Russian-speaking cultural and show business figures in Ukraine have “blood on their hands.” She made the unsubstantiated accusation during an interview with journalist Masha Yefrosinina, also implicating her in the process.
According to Solovey, Russian-speaking Ukrainian artists are to blame for building bridges and blurring the boundaries between Ukraine and Russia, and in Ukraine, those who made mistakes are treated too tolerantly. “In my opinion, we are very tolerant of those who once made mistakes, even of you,” Solovey said. “Everyone should be accountable for building cultural bridges between Russia and Ukraine, for trying to sit on two chairs and for blurring the boundaries. They are all responsible for this. They will always have blood on their hands, in their hearts and on their souls. That’s what I think,” Solovey said.
Yefrosinina strongly objected to this. She said that artists in previous decades simply responded to the audience’s demand, and at that time, the demand was for Russian-language content. She also believes that with such accusations of having blood on their hands, all Ukrainians could become inhumane. In her opinion, Solovey’s stance leads to hatred. Solovey responded by saying that she was taught to hate everything Russian since childhood and she will not apply tolerance here.
