November 29, 2023The front may retreat towards Kyiv and Zhytomyr, warn military personnel
November 29, 2023During wartime, one of the most sought-after and profitable businesses—prosthetics—continues to grow in Ukraine. Currently, the country produces over two thousand lower limb prostheses and 200 upper limb prostheses within a monthю
This information reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovych.
“According to the collected statistics, on average, more than two thousand lower limb prostheses are produced by all enterprises, and around 200 upper limb prosthetic devices are manufactured per month,” stated Zholnovych.
She also mentioned that around 80 Ukrainian enterprises are currently producing prosthetics, whereas there were around 40 at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Additionally, production volumes have increased at previously operating enterprises.
“They are now working at their maximum capacity. I believe they will further expand. But I wouldn’t say there are long queues for prosthetics,” noted Zholnovych.
The minister reported that over the past two years, more than 20,000 people, both civilians and military personnel, have been fitted with prosthetics in Ukraine.
Earlier, Zholnovych mentioned that within one and a half years, the number of disabled individuals in Ukraine had increased by 300,000.
Furthermore, American medic Mike Corkoran, involved in prosthetics, including for Ukrainians, stated that no fewer than 25,000 Ukrainian military personnel have lost limbs since the beginning of the war.
