Czech President Petr Pavel has called for an end to the war in Ukraine and the initiation of peace talks.

“We must be realistic. It would be naive to claim that Ukraine will be able to regain the occupied territories in the foreseeable future. Russia will not simply return the territories it occupies. We need to stop the war, and then begin discussions about future agreements. Some compromise could be reached, but not without the consent of Ukraine, Russia and the countries that will be guarantors of this agreement,” said Petr Pavel.

After achieving a peaceful resolution, he considers it possible to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

The Czech president stated that the West is “too cautious with supplies,” although it has all the necessary weapons for Ukraine to achieve victory on the battlefield.

“Ukrainians are losing their lives and their country, and they could lose in this war,” the politician added.

Recall that Petr Pavel recently stated that Ukraine is unlikely to return to its 1991 borders.
