“This is our history”: Former Odesa mayor Trukhanov criticizes ban on Russian-language songs
01.07.2026 07:04The Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD), which is part of the Czech governing coalition, has said it intends to seek the revocation of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s highest Czech state award, the Order of the White Lion.
This was reported by České noviny.
The initiative was put forward by MP Jindřich Rajchl, who plans to raise the matter at a coalition council meeting. He said it was “shameful” that the award had been given to a person who names military units after the “heroes of the UPA.”
Zelenskyy received the Order of the White Lion in October 2022 from the then Czech president, Miloš Zeman.
Earlier, Zelenskyy was reportedly stripped of Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, for the same reason.
Poland has also threatened to block Ukraine’s accession to the European Union if it continues honouring Bandera and the UPA.
