March 2, 2024German magazine Der Spiegel reports on the authenticity of an audio recording of a conversation among Bundeswehr officers about an attack on the Crimean Bridge.
“After initial analysis, it is assumed that the recording of the meeting is authentic. Based on the initial assessment, forgery using AI is largely ruled out,” the publication said.
Earlier, Russians published audio, allegedly of a conversation among high-ranking Bundeswehr officers on February 19 about the prospect of sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine and the possibility of using them against the Crimean Bridge. One of the participants in the conversation said that one Taurus missile would only make a “hole” in the bridge, and it would take “not 10 or even 20 missiles” to destroy it.
Bundeswehr officers also discussed the possibility of providing Kiev with 50 Taurus missiles immediately and then another 50 missiles in the shortest possible time.
After this, the German Ministry of Defense initiated an investigation into the possible interception of messages from the German Air Force about the theoretical use of Taurus missiles. The media reported that military counterintelligence was involved in this.
It is worth noting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz explained why he refused to supply Taurus missiles to Kiev. According to him, they “can hit targets in Moscow.”
High-ranking military personnel concluded that due to the size of the Crimean Bridge, it might take more than 20 long-range missile strikes to destroy it. According to Simonyan’s information, the participants in the conversation could have been Franz Greve, the head of operations and exercises at the Bundeswehr Air Force Command, Inspector BBC of the Bundeswehr, Gerhartz, and employees of the Air Operations Center of the Space Command of the Bundeswehr, Fenske, and Frohstedt.
