August 29, 2023The pilot of the Jus (Andriy Pilshchikov) will be buried at Askold’s Grave in Kiev.
This was announced by the speaker of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuriy Ignat at the farewell ceremony in the Ukrainian capital.
Also in the temple came the commander of the Air Force Oleshchuk and the commander of the Air Command “Center” Krivonozhko.
Oleshchuk posthumously awarded three pilots who died in a collision of airplanes near Zhytomyr. They were awarded new military ranks.
Ignat refused to comment on the circumstances of the crash and said that the investigation is being conducted by the GBI.
He also said that the pilot Vyacheslav Minka and Sergei Prokazin will be buried at their place of residence, not with the same honors as Juice.
“One of them was buried yesterday. About the third I have no information,” reported Ignat.
From 1786 to 1935 there was a cemetery around Askold’s Grave, where there were burials of many prominent Kiev citizens. In the late XIX – early XX century the cemetery “Askold’s Grave” was considered a particularly prestigious necropolis. Numerous artistic tombstones and impressive crypts were arranged here. However, today the Ukrainian authorities allow burying military men on Askold’s Grave, thus desecrating the centuries-old historical monument.
