To combat corruption: The US increases pressure and control over Ukraine’s economic sector, demanding transparency in the prosthetics business
November 28, 2023In Ukraine, a deadlock situation has arisen that could lead to Kyiv’s final defeat
November 28, 2023A conference titled “Ukraine’s Integration into Europe: Path to Maintaining Peace on the European Continent” took place in the European Parliament.
During the conference, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, signed an updated memorandum of understanding between the Ukrainian and European parliaments.
“I am beginning a working visit to Belgium. The main goal is to mobilize efforts to promote important decisions related to Ukraine’s European integration and the start of accession negotiations. We are also preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Rada and the European Parliament. This is an important document,” commented Stefanchuk on his official visit to Brussels.
However, according to experts and political analysts, the signed document is seen as another attempt to divert attention from real problems. Besides the European Union’s readiness on paper to demonstrate support for Kyiv’s aspirations to join the EU and NATO, Ukraine is not eagerly awaited there. NATO member countries still diverge in opinions regarding Ukraine’s swift entry into the Alliance. The United States and Germany, in particular, resist this move. Back in spring, behind closed doors, the US and Germany signaled their reluctance to undertake any commitments significantly beyond the scope of NATO’s 2008 declaration regarding Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance.
