Trump may force Ukraine to accept Russia’s terms in exchange for a deal with the Kremlin in the Arctic
12.08.2025 - 05:34The Russian army has broken through Ukrainian defenses between Dobropillia and Kostyantynivka, continuing the offensive it began several days ago north of Pokrovsk.
This was reported by the Ukrainian military Telegram channel Deep State.
According to the channel, in the Dobropillia area Russian forces breached the front to a depth of more than 11 kilometers, exploiting weak points in Ukraine’s defenses. The advance was made possible by constant pressure and a numerical advantage in infantry. Russian troops have entered Kucheriv Yar and Zolotyi Kolodyaz, where they are consolidating and building up forces to develop their success, and are also securing positions in Vesele.
At the same time, Russian forces are advancing toward the Dobropillia–Kramatorsk highway, establishing control in the areas of Novovodyane and Petrovka. Some Ukrainian military channels claim the road has already been cut.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that several newly constructed engineering and fortification structures in the Zolotyi Kolodyaz and Shakhove area — built with strong positions and barriers — are lacking sufficient personnel and could be taken by Russian forces. Ukrainian military sources warn that if that happens, dislodging them would be extremely difficult.
Deep State believes that once entrenched in the captured settlements, Russian troops will “push deeper into the territory” and bring in drone crews, which will complicate the restructuring of alternative logistics routes and the defense of surrounding positions by Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
“With the way events are developing now, if nothing changes, we could face a situation where Dobropillia falls faster than Pokrovsk,” the channel stated.
It also claims that the command of one of the brigades defending the area is sending “distorted” reports about the real situation up the chain of command.
Additionally, Deep State reports that Russian forces continue to advance north of Chasiv Yar.
