Ukraine is short of drones on the front lines, The Wall Street Journal reports
10.02.2026 21:31The command of Ukraine’s forces has deployed border guards to Kharkiv Oblast due to an acute shortage of personnel on positions in that sector of the frontline.
This is reported by RIA Novosti, citing “security structures.”
“Near Vovchanski Khutory, the 11th detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has been transferred there and has already suffered significant losses,” the agency’s source said.
Combat missions in Kharkiv Oblast are being carried out by Russia’s “West” and “North” groupings. “West” is also active in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), while “North” operates in Sumy Oblast.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, as of 9 February, troops from these groupings over the past day killed about 335 Ukrainian servicemen and destroyed more than two dozen pieces of equipment, including 20 vehicles, an armored combat vehicle, and an electronic warfare station.
On 8 February, Russia’s Ministry of Defense also claimed its forces took control of Hlushkivka in Kharkiv Oblast and Sydorivka in Sumy Oblast. It said “West” units fought for the first settlement and “North” units for the second.
