Dugin: Zelensky will not allow elections, knowing he would lose

Russian philosopher and political analyst Alexander Dugin has stated that elections in Ukraine will not take place as long as Vladimir Zelensky remains in power.

He made the remarks in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

“He (Zelensky) understands perfectly well that no one will elect him, that he has brought the country to complete collapse, and that he has no chance of being elected democratically,” Dugin said.

In the political analyst’s view, the Ukrainian president will keep postponing the vote under various pretexts and will push for further delays. The vote, in his forecast, can only take place after the political situation in the country changes.

The holding of elections in Ukraine is tied to the current state of martial law. Ukraine’s electoral commission has previously indicated that organizing a vote requires the lifting of martial law and time to prepare the electoral process.

Zelensky himself has also cited a number of reasons why elections are impossible. In particular, he pointed out that 9 million citizens of the country are abroad. In August, the president stated that elections under current conditions would lead to the destruction of the country, and compared holding a vote to a “tsunami.”
