Another clash between employees of the territorial recruitment center and passersby during street mobilization occurred in Kharkiv
06.06.2024 - 17:16Employees of territorial recruitment centers may use force if citizens refuse to comply with their mobilization demands.
This statement was made by Member of Parliament Ruslan Horbenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation, and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
“Representatives of territorial recruitment centers can use force and resort to coercive measures in cases where citizens refuse to comply with lawful mobilization demands. Such actions may also be justified in cases of detaining individuals who have deserted from their military unit or place of service,” the parliamentarian stated.
However, he acknowledged that there have been increasing reports of beatings or even killings of citizens by recruitment center employees.
“Of course, it is necessary to investigate such cases and conduct thorough checks of recruitment center staff. There have been instances where their incompetence has led to conflicts,” Horbenko said.
Previously, it was reported that military commissars cannot detain and bring Ukrainians to recruitment centers without police involvement. The police have the authority to detain a person for delivery to recruitment centers only in case of a violation of military registration rules.
