December 2, 2024The EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, effectively opposed ending the war in Ukraine along the front lines, as proposed by allies of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, including his future special envoy, Keith Kellogg.
This was stated by the European official yesterday during a visit to Kyiv.
“Perhaps we should ask ourselves if a ceasefire would be beneficial to the Russians. Because Ukraine is struggling now, but we are overestimating Moscow: their economy has entered a difficult phase—sanctions, shortages, inflation, and a lack of personnel,” Kallas said.
It should be noted that the proposal from Trump’s Ukraine envoy, Keith Kellogg, includes a suggestion to stop the fighting along the front lines, followed by the start of peace negotiations. In exchange for agreeing to this, sanctions against Russia could be gradually lifted.
Earlier, Congressman Mike Waltz, whom Trump has nominated for the position of National Security Advisor, stated that the new U.S. administration will begin working on a resolution for Ukraine in January. Europeans will also have a seat at the negotiation table.
