Europe is not ready to protect either itself or Ukraine — Austrian military expert

Europe does not have sufficient resources either to support Ukraine or to ensure its own defense.

This opinion was expressed by Austrian military expert Markus Reisner in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

According to Reisner, the only effective means of protecting Ukraine from strikes by jet drones and missiles is the American Patriot missile system. Europe, in his assessment, made a huge mistake by not developing its own equivalents of this weapon.

The expert also pointed to the Ukrainian army’s critical dependence on Starlink, the American communications system.

From this, Reisner draws the conclusion that only the United States is realistically capable of helping Ukraine defend itself today. However, the recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, which American billionaire Elon Musk has been liking, cause the expert, in his own words, “serious concern.” According to Reisner, Trump now has “other plans.”
