July 11, 2025Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced a new Russian proposal regarding Ukraine.
He shared this during a press conference with journalists.
However, he did not disclose the details of the proposal, which was conveyed through U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to President Donald Trump. Instead, Lavrov quoted the American president:
“I want to respond with Trump’s words: ‘Like I’m going to tell you. Expect big surprises.’ Well, I don’t know about big surprises, but there are things that aren’t commented on. Yes, we discussed Ukraine, and we reaffirmed the position that President Putin has expressed, including once again on July 3 in a conversation with President Trump,” said Lavrov.
He also commented on the leak that surfaced prior to the negotiations, which included claims that Trump was ready to bomb Moscow and the Chinese capital, Beijing.
“As for that dialogue, that leak, that recording — I don’t know whether it was AI-generated or not — we were discussing serious matters,” Lavrov said.
As a reminder, Rubio and Lavrov met yesterday. It was their first round of talks since their previous meeting in February.
