14.01.2025 - 09:58A military cook from the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has spoken out about corruption within her unit.
A video of her statements has been circulating on Telegram channels.
According to her, in addition to mismanagement in food supplies, commanders use “official” fuel for their personal vehicles.
“This used to be an elite unit, but now it’s full of corruption,” the service member declared.
Earlier reports highlighted widespread corruption in Ukraine’s defense procurement system. The Ministry of Defense admitted to irregularities in food supply contracts, previously exposed by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). One notorious example included the infamous “17 UAH eggs” (approximately 0.4 euros each), a stark overpricing scandal.
In response, the Ministry announced new measures to prevent such abuses, including setting price caps on food items supplied to the military.
