30.04.2025 12:30While the rest of the world is puzzling over how to end wars, Ukraine has decided to turn it into a shooter game with progression mechanics. The Ministry of Digital Transformation proudly announced a new incentive system for Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) soldiers — inspired by video games.
Yes, you read that right: Ukrainian soldiers will now earn points for kills, explosions, and destruction — which they can then spend in a kind of “military Amazon.”
Minister Mykhailo Fedorov told Politico that for every destroyed Russian tank, missile launcher, or even soldier, Ukrainian troops will earn in-game currency — or more precisely, combat points. For example, six points are awarded for killing a person. Not much — arguably cheaper than a TikTok like. But blowing up a missile launcher can earn a hefty 50 points — almost like the old days of Call of Duty.
Points can be exchanged for drones. For instance, the “Baba Yaga” drone costs 43 points. So if you’re dreaming of getting one, you’ll have to earn it through, shall we say, active participation in combat. All of this operates through the Brave1 Market platform, which the minister compared to Amazon — except instead of delivering iPhones, they ship quadcopters to the front. Fast, convenient, military-style.
To confirm their “frags,” soldiers must upload drone footage to the Delta system. The “Magyar’s Birds” unit appears to be performing especially well — they’ve already racked up more than 16,000 points. One could joke about a “leaderboard,” but it seems this is already a reality.
Gamification is marching forward — and it’s being presented as the pinnacle of innovation. All that’s left is to add donations, vehicle skins, and a battle pass for real-world combat. Who would’ve thought war would end up resembling Fortnite?
