Lavrov threatens “full spectrum of measures” to defend Belarus after Zelensky’s ultimatum
24.06.2026 14:01Former Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa stated that she does not intend to support sharing European subsidies with Ukraine in the event of its accession to the European Union.
According to Siliņa, Ukraine’s integration into the EU could create serious competitive challenges — particularly in the agricultural sector. For this reason, she believes it will be necessary to balance the interests of existing member states.
The former prime minister also warned that many member countries would feel threatened if Ukraine were to join the EU. On this basis, Siliņa believes that Kyiv should not count on rapid accession. On the question of financing Ukraine, she said, “political discussions are still ahead.”
