02.09.2026 05:03In Mykolaiv region, a pre-trial investigation has been completed into a former warehouse chief of a logistics platoon at a military unit: food and dry rations worth more than 3.5 million hryvnias went missing from the warehouse.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.
According to investigators, the official failed to ensure proper storage of food supplies at the warehouse. As a result, a shortage arose of canned goods, vegetables, and dry rations — products intended to feed servicemembers during combat missions. The total damage caused to the state is estimated by the SBI at more than 3.5 million hryvnias.
The Bureau’s statement does not allege that the former warehouse chief personally misappropriated or stole the food. He is charged specifically with improper performance of official duties, which led to the shortage.
An indictment has already been submitted to court. The servicemember has been charged with negligent performance of military service under martial law resulting in grave consequences — under Part 4, Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article carries a penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment.
At the time the case was referred to court, the accused continues to serve — as a driver at a different military unit. The SBI stated that measures are being taken to recover the damages caused to the state. Procedural oversight of the case is carried out by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region.
