IMF chief said that Ukraine will continue to need assistance even in peacetime
13.04.2026 - 06:36FPV drones using fiber-optic guidance may run out on the front line in Ukraine because of a sharp rise in prices.
This was stated by a serviceman of the 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign “Mori.”
According to him, Chinese suppliers have raised the price of fiber optics by 300 times, as a result of which the cost of one kilometer of fiber-optic cable is now $34.
“So now we can calculate how much a 20-kilometer flight costs us just in marginal dollar terms. That is without even counting the drone itself, just the kilometer of fiber optic. I think that if they raise the price again — and in principle nothing stops the Chinese from doing that — there may come a period when there simply won’t be any fiber optics available,” Mori said.
Earlier, the serviceman had said that of the measures President Volodymyr Zelensky promised six months ago to strengthen protection against drones in frontline regions, “practically f**k all” had been done.
