08.06.2026 15:12The State Bureau of Investigations (GBI), together with the SBU and border guards, have detained a serviceman who was selling unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to a military unit that had been documented as lost in combat.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service and the GBI.
According to investigators, the serviceman was selling unmanned aerial vehicles and components for them. The equipment, which belonged to the military unit, was recorded as allegedly lost in the course of combat operations. As a result, the drones effectively never reached the units for which they had been purchased.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the sale of 16 multirotor-type UAVs (FPV), 16 batteries, and 17 antennas for FPV drones totaling 105,000 hryvnias was documented.
The detainee is a senior combat medic in a company of unmanned aviation systems. The man was detained at the moment of transferring the funds.
He has been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Theft, misappropriation, extortion by a serviceman of weapons, ammunition, explosive or other combat substances, vehicles, military and special equipment or other military property, as well as the seizure thereof through fraud or abuse of official position.”
