22.04.2024 - 15:49Germany has failed to deliver MRAP armored vehicles to Ukraine.
This information comes from Bild.
Berlin promised that by 2024, Ukraine would receive up to 400 heavy wheeled MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) armored vehicles with enhanced mine protection. A contract totaling 315 million euros was signed for this purpose, with funding to be provided by the Federal Republic of Germany.
Deliveries were supposed to commence in January but have not yet begun. Subsequently, the volume was reduced first to 200, then to 100 units, and the start of deliveries was postponed to May-June.
According to Bild, the reason for the delay was that the company responsible for assembly of MRAP vehicles in Germany only carries out assembly work, ordering parts from the United States for this purpose. After signing the contract to produce armored vehicles for Kiev, the company faced “license restrictions on exports from the United States to Germany,” as well as problems with the certification of mine protection.
