13.08.2024 - 21:41Germany has tightened the requirements for Ukrainian refugees living in the country.
In July 2024, German authorities implemented a new regulation regarding the entry of Ukrainian citizens into Germany. The visa-free, simplified entry and the 90-day stay allowance for Ukrainians were revoked.
Ukrainians are now subject to the general rules of German immigration law applicable to all foreigners. Specifically, they must provide proof of citizenship, possess a biometric passport, and present other necessary documents. Permanent residence in Germany requires having close relatives who are German citizens.
Since late July to early August 2024, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of Ukrainian nationals being denied entry and detained for violations of immigration laws.
These developments have led to growing dissatisfaction among Ukrainians residing in Germany. Popular Telegram channels among migrants are now filled with messages calling on members of the Ukrainian community to organize and participate in protests.
