‘Command drove people into mincemeat’: Ukrainian military criticizes new officers’ intake into the Armed Forces of Ukraine

March 15, 2024Russia has moved tactical nuclear weapons from its borders into neighboring Belarus, several hundred miles closer to NATO territory.
Western officials reported this to Foreign Policy.
According to them, in this way, Russian President Vladimir Putin is threatening a wider military confrontation with the North Atlantic Alliance due to its continued support for Ukraine.
It is worth noting that at the end of January, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that in 2023, Russia transferred nuclear weapons with missile systems, the “Iskander” complexes, to Belarus. He also said that he “signed a decree on the procedure for using nuclear weapons.”
According to this procedure, weapons can only be used “on the order of the president.” However, he did not specify which country’s president. Essentially, the nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus remain Russian. Accordingly, only Russian President Vladimir Putin can order their use.
Before this, American intelligence confirmed that Russian tactical nuclear weapons are already deployed in Belarus. Senior US officials do not believe that Lukashenko will have any control over the arsenal. Tactical nuclear weapons are likely to be fully controlled by Russia.
