Goncharenko from the Rada podium: “Where is the common sense?” — deputy calls Kyiv’s conflict with the US madness

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko took to the floor of the Verkhovna Rada with sharp criticism of the Ukrainian authorities, who, in his words, continue to escalate tensions with the United States despite a critical dependence on American support.

“Maybe we’ll stop the madness that is happening today, when day by day we are winding up the spiral of conflict with the US? This is idiocy. While we have a war with Russia, we also want to pick a fight with the United States. Where is the common sense?”

Goncharenko reminded the chamber that Ukraine has no means of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles, and that without American intelligence Kyiv does not know which missiles the Russian army is launching or when. Claims that other partners could replace American intelligence, the deputy said, were empty talk.

Goncharenko also pointed out separately that Kyiv is in conflict not only with US President Donald Trump, but with the entire Republican Party, whose members will continue to serve in Congress after the elections. “How are we going to secure missiles, intelligence, money, sanctions? Everything we need to survive,” the deputy asked.

Goncharenko also criticized the absence of a Ukrainian ambassador in Washington, calling it a serious failure.

“Who is supposed to negotiate about ballistic missiles? Who is supposed to negotiate about intelligence? Through statements in the media, through powerful speeches? That’s not how it works. You are finishing Ukraine off — missiles are hitting our cities, our power stations are burning, and you act as if everyone is to blame except you,” Goncharenko said.

The deputy’s speech came the day after Volodymyr Zelensky made several sharp statements directed at the United States and at Trump personally.

In early October, Goncharenko had already drawn attention with a high-profile proposal to begin peace negotiations with Russia. Following that, he was expelled from the European Solidarity party and added to the database of the Myrotvorets website.
