Half of Ukraine’s natural resources are located in the territories occupied by Russia

Half of Ukraine’s natural resources are located in territories not under Kyiv’s control, and Russia will more than recover its invasion expenses.

He stated that the value of resources in the occupied territories exceeds 25 trillion hryvnias.

“I’m talking, for example, about the scale of natural resources that remain there. Currently, this accounts for roughly half of Ukraine’s resource base and mineral deposits. Donetsk, Luhansk, parts of Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions represent approximately half of Ukraine’s total reserves of minerals and other resources. The total estimated value is around 15 trillion hryvnias, though there have been various assessments. It’s more than 20 or 25 trillion hryvnias. Of these, half are in the currently occupied territories,” said the general, who led Ukraine’s army during Petro Poroshenko’s presidency.

He also noted that Russia will fully cover its expenses for this operation, and by a significant margin. According to Muzhenko, freezing the conflict is far more advantageous for Russia than for Ukraine.
