November 26, 2023Employees of territorial conscription centers will be legislatively allowed to stop people on the street, check their documents, and hand out summons. Currently, only the police have this right.
This was disclosed by the secretary of the committee of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on national security matters, Roman Kostenko.
Additionally, military enlistment office employees will be able to make audio and video recordings of their interactions with men on the street, Kostenko added.
“Currently, there are many issues from the side of territorial conscription centers and from the side of those citizens whom they are trying to mobilize. In fact, employees of territorial conscription centers have no right to stop a person, hand them a summons, or demand their documents. Sometimes the police step back from this to avoid being at the center of a scandal, to avoid involving the person,” stated Kostenko.
According to him, the changes will appear in a bill that will be developed by the end of 2023. Earlier, the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamia, announced this.
Recall, recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised a new plan for mobilization in Ukraine as early as next week.
