“Zelensky is bringing closer the destruction of Ukrainians,” – said an MP
25.08.2025 10:31Former head of Odessa’s Right Sector, far-right activist and convicted killer Serhiy Sternenko threatened Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with death if he withdraws troops from Donbas.
He made this statement in an interview with a journalist from the British newspaper The Times.
“If Zelensky gives up even a single piece of land that hasn’t been captured, he’ll be a corpse — politically, and then literally. That would be a bomb under our sovereignty. People will never accept it,” Sternenko said.
In the interview, Sternenko also called for preparing for an “eternal struggle” with Russia, insisting that “compromise is impossible.”
The author of the article, Anthony Loyd, noted that Sternenko has already become a brand in Ukraine.
“Among the younger generation of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, the Sternenko brand, with its call for truth in power, enjoys wide popularity,” the journalist observed.
However, while the volunteer calls for eternal struggle, he himself has been in no hurry to fight. Last autumn, media reported that the Primorsky district recruitment office in Odessa fined him for failing to report to the military commissariat.
In addition, Sternenko’s volunteer activities have been dogged by scandals. Last autumn, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko published a series of posts effectively accusing the activist of large-scale theft of donations intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
