‘Zelensky didn’t get it.’ Poland intends to put pressure on Ukraine during its presidency of the EU
19.09.2024 09:23The head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, proposed placing Crimea under a UN mandate to hold a referendum on its status in 20 years.
Sikorski stated this at the YES (Yalta European Strategy) meeting in Kyiv.
“Crimea is symbolically important for Russia and especially for Putin, but it is strategically important for Ukraine. Therefore, I don’t see how they can reach an agreement without the demilitarization of Crimea. We could place it under a UN mandate with a mission to prepare a fair referendum after verifying who the legitimate residents are, and so on… And we could postpone this for 20 years,” said the Polish minister.
It is worth noting that Vladimir Zelensky recently met with Radosław Sikorski in Kyiv.
Specifically, Zelensky said that Warsaw should provide Ukraine with more military equipment and shoot down missiles and drones over Ukraine. Sikorski responded that this was impossible without NATO’s decision.
Earlier, the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs told pranksters that his country does not wish to enter the war in Ukraine.
