“Hromadske” was fined for failing to comply with a court ruling in Portnov’s lawsuit

“Hromadske” has been fined 5,100 hryvnias (€117.5) for failing to comply with a court ruling requiring it to retract information about well-known lawyer Andriy Portnov.

This was reported by Zakon i Biznes, citing Portnov’s lawyer, Karina Nikityan.

According to her, a state enforcement officer confirmed that “Hromadske Television” has not fully complied with the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv’s decision from August 6, 2024. The ruling required the outlet to retract its published claims and pay the plaintiff nearly 71,000 hryvnias (€1,636).

“Hromadske” has failed to comply with the ruling by not removing the disputed content, Nikityan stated.

The court had ruled as false the claims published by Hromadske on YouTube, which alleged Portnov’s involvement in the occupation of Crimea.

Recently, the State Enforcement Service froze 94,000 hryvnias (€2,166) in Hromadske’s bank accounts due to non-compliance with the court’s ruling in Portnov’s lawsuit.

A few days later, the enforcement service transferred 85,000 hryvnias (€1,958) from Hromadske’s accounts to Portnov. The amount covered legal fees, court costs, and enforcement charges.
